At Urban Jungle, we are making insurance fair - to people, planet and wallets. We are one of the fastest-growing businesses in the UK, working to fix one of the biggest industries in the world. We put customers at the heart of everything we do, using data and technology to make insurance simple, flexible, and affordable. We care about our impact on the planet, becoming a B Corp in 2022 and offsetting our carbon emissions every year. So far, we have helped 300,000 customers get better insurance and become one of the top-rated home insurance providers in the UK.

About the role: Product Managers at Urban Jungle sit at the heart of our cross-functional teams. You will work on everything from improving our purchase and claims experience, to launching brand new products, to building world-class tooling for our Operations team (and so much more). Day-to-day, you will get stuck in to understanding user needs, analysing data, running experiments, tackling interesting business problems and finding creative ways to solve them. You will have a huge impact on the business from day one.

In this role, you will work closely with our Product Director, Toby, as well as getting lots of exposure to our senior leadership team - who have previously led some of the world’s fastest-growing businesses - as you play a pivotal role in achieving our company’s growth plans.

Responsibilities:

  • You will be tackling our biggest business problems from the get-go, collaborating across various teams in the business, including insurance, operations, commercial, and of course, working very closely with our engineering teams.
  • You will design and scope features to meet these goals. You will oversee their development, testing, and eventual launch.
  • Once you have shipped key features, you will measure performance, identify improvements, and advocate for changes to make our products even better.
  • You will manage cross-functional projects from end to end, showcasing your ability to bring teams together to deliver outstanding results.
  • As a startup, we will also expect you to roll your sleeves up and get involved wherever the company needs you.

What we’re looking for:

  • At least 3 years professional experience, including 2 years in a product role.
  • A track record of building world-class products end-to-end that have created loads of value for customers as well as delivering business results.
  • You are excited about being a part of this big opportunity (even if you know nothing about Insurance right now!).
  • Bonus points if you have dabbled with SQL, HTML / CSS, Python or any other programming language.
  • You will have the ability to think critically with experience in leveraging business data to drive results.

These requirements are a guide as to what we are looking for, but if you don’t have all of the skills listed above, that’s okay! Please don’t let that hold you back from applying if the role excites you.

About the process:

We have designed a process that aims to get the right candidate working here as quickly as possible. It starts with an initial phone chat. Then we will ask you to complete a take-home task which is timeboxed to 2.5 hours which you will present at an in-person interview with our Product Director. Finally, you will get a chance to meet several members of the wider team.

About our offer:

We are taking an office-centric approach to work (with lots of flexibility built-in) and the team is based in Oval, London. In addition to our positive, open working environment, you can expect the following benefits of working at Urban Jungle:

  • A starting salary of between £55,000 - £70,000.
  • Share options that can increase alongside performance and growth.
  • 25 days paid annual leave, plus public holidays.
  • Rapid Progression.
  • Real Impact.
  • A Clear Plan.
  • The Best People.
  • A dedicated development budget, access to a senior mentor, and training on whatever you need to do your job well.
  • Well-being support.
  • Enhanced parental leave, and support for parents returning to work.
  • Regular awesome socials and vibrant team communities such as book club and foodies.

About our commitment: Urban Jungle is an equal opportunity employer and fairness and respect are at the heart of who we are and how we work. We do not discriminate based on race, age, ethnicity, religion, sex (including pregnancy, childbirth, or related medical conditions), sexual orientation, gender, gender identity or disability.
