At Urban Jungle, we are making insurance fair - to people, planet and wallets. We are one of the fastest-growing businesses in the UK, working to fix one of the biggest industries in the world. We put customers at the heart of everything we do, using data and technology to make insurance simple, flexible, and affordable. We care about our impact on the planet, becoming a B Corp in 2022 and offsetting our carbon emissions every year. So far, we have helped 300,000 customers get better insurance and become one of the top-rated home insurance providers in the UK.
As a Junior Product Manager at Urban Jungle, you will be right at the heart of how we design, build, and improve the experiences that thousands of our customers interact with every day. You will work closely with our engineering, design, and operations teams to take ideas from problem to prototype to launch. You will get hands-on experience across the full product lifecycle: from streamlining our purchase flow to help more customers convert, to improving our claims journey to make it smoother and more transparent, to launching entirely new products, to building internal tools that power our operations.
Here’s what you will get up to:
- You will be supporting our biggest business problems from the get-go, collaborating across various teams in the business, including insurance, operations, commercial, and of course, working very closely with our engineering teams.
- On larger projects, you will contribute to the scoping, development, testing, and eventual launch of features. On smaller projects, you will get the chance to own the problem space end to end.
- Once you have shipped key features, you will help measure performance, identify improvements, and advocate for changes to make our products even better.
- As a startup, we will also expect you to roll your sleeves up and get involved wherever the company needs you.
Here’s what we need from you:
- You are either early on in your product career, or incredibly passionate about getting into product management after a stint in a commercial environment (e.g., in Marketing or Partnerships).
- You have strong communication skills and a track record of working effectively across teams.
- You are excited about being a part of this big opportunity in changing a huge financial industry.
- You have the ability to think critically with experience in leveraging business data to drive results.
About the process: We have designed a process that aims to get the right candidate working here as quickly as possible. It starts with an initial phone chat. Then we will ask you to complete a take-home task which is timeboxed to 2.5 hours, which you will present at an in-person interview with our Product Director. Finally, you will get a chance to meet several members of the wider team.
About our offer: We are taking an office-centric approach to work (with lots of flexibility built-in) and the team is based in Oval, London. In addition to our positive, open working environment, you can expect the following benefits:
- A starting salary of between £32,000 - £50,000, depending on product management experience.
- Share options that can increase alongside performance and growth.
- 25 days paid annual leave plus public holidays.
- Rapid Progression with tons of responsibility from day one.
- Real Impact on big, interesting problems that will challenge you.
- A Clear Plan with the freedom and autonomy to decide how we achieve our goals.
- The Best People who are exceptional at what they do.
- A dedicated development budget, access to a senior mentor, and training on whatever you need to do your job well.
- Well-being support through access to therapy, weekly onsite yoga, and subsidised sports clubs.
- Enhanced parental leave and support for parents returning to work.
- Regular awesome socials and vibrant team communities.
About our commitment: Urban Jungle is an equal opportunity employer and fairness and respect are at the heart of who we are and how we work. We do not discriminate based on race, age, ethnicity, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender, gender identity or disability. We know that in order to build a truly successful business, we need a team of diverse individuals who can offer a variety of skills, experiences and perspectives.
