About the Role

An established and growing organisation in the South of England is looking for an experienced Network Engineer to join their IT function. This is a great opportunity to take ownership of a diverse, hands-on infrastructure environment, supporting a mix of voice, data, and wireless services across a fast-paced operational setting.

You’ll play a key role in maintaining network stability and integrity across the business, from design and deployment to monitoring, troubleshooting, and continual optimisation. It’s a broad role that suits someone comfortable working across multiple technologies, supporting both strategic planning and day-to-day network operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, configure, and maintain LAN, WAN, and wireless networks across multiple sites.
  • Deploy and support servers, routers, switches, firewalls, and VOIP systems.
  • Monitor and optimise network performance; troubleshoot hardware and software issues.
  • Conduct network capacity planning and implement security and disaster recovery procedures.
  • Oversee hardware and software upgrades and maintain comprehensive documentation.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and third-party suppliers to deliver resilient, high-performing network solutions.
  • Provide end-user support, training, and guidance where needed.

About You

  • Demonstrable experience in network design, deployment, and support (LAN/WAN/WLAN).
  • Solid understanding of network security, firewalls, and best practices.
  • Proven experience with VOIP systems and general telephony infrastructure.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication skills and a proactive, customer-focused approach.
  • Relevant qualifications (e.g. degree in IT/Networking, or equivalent experience).
  • Certifications such as CCNA / CCNP (or working towards) would be highly advantageous.
