We are looking for a standout Managing Editor to lead one of the retail sector’s most influential titles. This is your chance to set the editorial agenda, strengthen the brand’s authority and drive its continued shift into a modern, digital-first publication.
What You Will Lead:
- Editorial Strategy and Direction: Take ownership of the publication’s editorial vision. Ensure every feature, report and insight delivers value for a professional audience and reinforces the brand’s position across all channels.
- Digital-First Growth: Accelerate the move to a digital-first model. You will shape storytelling for online audiences, introduce smarter tools and workflows, and support growth through a strong, data-informed content strategy.
- Content Ownership: Manage the full content cycle from planning to publication. This includes leading on key features such as Focus Ons, supplier trend analysis and in-depth commentary pieces.
- Quality and Standards: Uphold high journalistic standards across digital and print. Sign off key sections, refine copy and champion consistent quality while helping the team deliver their strongest work.
- Columnist and Contributor Development: Build and nurture a roster of expert contributors. Bring forward voices that add depth, challenge thinking and stay ahead of retail trends.
- Team Leadership: Lead and support an editorial team that spans Special Projects, FMCG, Drinks and Fresh Foods. Encourage collaboration, development and high performance.
- Deputise as Editor: Represent the brand when required, acting confidently as Editor both internally and externally.
