We are on the lookout for a dynamic and highly skilled Managing Editor to lead the editorial direction and day-to-day operations of a leading industry publication. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced editor to work on both print and digital platforms, managing content that informs and influences a wide audience of professionals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Strategic Leadership: Contribute to the evolving strategic direction and brand positioning of the publication, with a focus on features and reports, ensuring it continues to meet the needs of its readers across both digital and print formats.
- Content Innovation: Lead the move toward a more digital-first approach, optimising content for maximum digital impact. Leverage digital tools and software to enhance content and deliver commercial growth opportunities.
- Content Management: Oversee the efficient planning, workflow, and production of content, with direct responsibility for features such as Focus Ons, opinion sections, and supplier news and trends.
- Quality Control: Share responsibility for proofing and signing off key sections of the publication, ensuring the highest journalistic standards are upheld, while empowering team members to take ownership of their work.
- Columnist Management: Manage and grow a roster of regular columnists to deliver engaging, topical, and thought-provoking commentary and opinion.
- Team Leadership: Lead and manage a talented editorial team, ensuring effective development, quality, and smooth operations. Direct reports include the Special Projects Editor, FMCG Editor, Drinks Editor, and Fresh Foods Editor.
- Deputy Role: Step in as acting editor for both print and digital editions when required, representing the publication internally and externally.

- Proven experience in managing editorial teams across both print and digital platforms.
- A strong editorial background with a keen eye for detail, able to maintain high journalistic standards while driving innovation.
- Ability to think strategically and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
