The opportunity
Compliance has become one of the heaviest, riskiest and most stressful parts of this industry - and right now, there's no dedicated function owning it properly. This is a brand new, standalone role reporting directly to the founders, built for someone who wants to fix that: not just run compliance, but build the system that makes it run itself.
You’ll start by taking full ownership of compliance for one portfolio - every building, every obligation, from fire risk assessments and electrical testing through to the wider building-safety regime. You’ll own the calendar, manage contractors, chase remedials to closure, and keep every certificate audit-ready. Doing this by hand first is deliberate - it's how you’ll design a system that actually reflects how compliance really works.
From there, you’ll work hand-in-glove with the technology team to turn what you’ve learned into an automated system, then lead the rollout across every other business in the group, one at a time. As the platform takes on the scale, your role shifts from chasing paperwork to judgement calls, negotiation and build - with real scope to grow into leading a centralised compliance team as the group expands.
What you’ll own
- End-to-end compliance for your first portfolio - calendar, contractors, remedials, records, all audit-ready
- Building the SOPs and system logic (obligation types, frequency, evidence, risk escalation) alongside the tech team
- Rolling the system out across the wider group, one business at a time
- Group-wide contracts and supplier relationships as volume centralises
What we’re looking for
- Real, hands-on UK leasehold compliance experience - fire safety/FRAs, electrical and building safety, statutory testing - you’ve done the work yourself, not just overseen it
- An owner’s mindset: you get on top of messy, high-stakes areas and keep them there
- High attention to detail - in this world, accuracy is safety
- Systems-minded - genuinely energised by turning your own job into a repeatable process, not threatened by it
- The ability to walk into a new team, build trust fast, and take something important off their hands
- Ambition beyond running a compliance desk - you want to change how this gets done industry-wide
- Compliance/fire-safety qualifications (NEBOSH, IOSH etc.) a plus, not a requirement
