UDRO intervenes in projects of global significance, often where disputes have risen to the Supreme Court, or where critical cultural, national security, or community interests are under threat. UDRO is expanding its volunteer group of legal advocates to operate in high-stakes contexts which will define the future of our cities for generations to come. This is an opportunity for junior and experienced lawyers alike to gain unique experience that for most would be once-in-a-lifetime.

We are looking for a range of legal experts with an interest in one or more of the following areas:

  • administrative/public law
  • planning law
  • human rights law

UDRO is launching a number of major interventions across the UK to protect communities and heritage assets, including some efforts of public significance, and needs a skilled and passionate team to drive its operations.

Responsibilities

You will work with the Director of Interventions and the Chief Executive to understand the fact patterns underlying major plans to change our cities and communities. You will review planning decisions from local authorities as well as the Secretary of State. You will form legal arguments and be prepared to make them on behalf of residents and businesses. You will work closely with UDRO researchers to make sense of complex situations and make clear and convincing legal arguments out of them.

The role will be flexible and designed to suit your individual circumstances and interests.

Qualifications

We are interested in a range of legal backgrounds. We not only need experienced lawyers and planning practitioners, but also passionate Law students.
