We are partnered with one of the UKβs most established civil engineering businesses. This very well-recognised brand has secured its position as a true market-leading Tier 1 in the civil engineering market sector. Whilst they have a national presence, their strongest area has traditionally been in London and the Southeast. Having secured several long-term frameworks and some individual high-profile projects, there is now a need to increase the management team in the southern region by recruiting a new contract manager. This role will enable you to have a major impact on some of their high-profile schemes and have a voice that will be heard to help shape and guide the business.
Position: Contracts Manager β Civil Engineering
Location: London
Package: Negotiable
Duties:
- Extensive experience in managing projects within a civil/water environment
- Good working knowledge of contract conditions, CDM regulations, design management, programme and risk management, and cost control, including forecasting, actual cost, and value reporting
- Experience with MS Projects (and P6 an advantage)
- Knowledge of the NEC contract, including the Early Warning and Compensation Event mechanisms
- HNC/HND/Degree level (or equivalent)
- SMSTS CSCS card
- Experience in the Pre-Qualification and Tendering process for several multi-disciplinary projects
- Excellent people management skills with the ability to influence and mentor
- Problem-solving skills and analytical thinking
- Oversee projects from pre-construction to end of Defects Liability Period
- Ensure compliance with Health & Safety legislation and ISO 45001
- Monitor programme, quality, progress and financial performance
- Attend client meetings and produce progress reports
- Work with commercial teams on budgets, variations and forecasting
- Drive consistent delivery standards and continuous improvement
- Manage defects, handovers and close-out processes
- Oversee S38, S278 and S104 works through to final sign-off
- Review design information to improve efficiency and reduce cost
- Liaise with engineering teams to ensure effective site coverage
