Planner Required – Peterborough | Immediate Start

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Planner to join a leading construction contractor on a major project based in Peterborough.

This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled Planner looking for an immediate start, offering a competitive day rate of £350–£400, depending on experience.

Working closely with Estimating, Delivery and Commercial teams, you will play a key role in developing, maintaining and monitoring project programmes from tender through to completion, ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently and in line with contractual requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain detailed project programmes for tender, pre-construction and live projects.
  • Support estimating and delivery teams to ensure planning standards and procedures are consistently applied.
  • Produce robust construction programmes using Primavera P6/Primavera Cloud and MS Project.
  • Establish effective construction methodologies, sequencing and programme logic.
  • Monitor programme performance, critical paths and key milestones, identifying risks and implementing mitigation strategies.
  • Lead and support collaborative planning sessions with project teams.
  • Produce programme updates, progress reports and planning information in line with reporting requirements.
  • Develop programme animations and visual planning tools to support project delivery.
  • Support the review and assessment of tender programmes.
  • Assist with demonstrating the impact of change, delays and variations in accordance with NEC and other contract requirements.
  • Work closely with Operations and Commercial teams to identify programme risks, manage float and protect contractual completion dates.
  • Promote and maintain high standards of Health & Safety throughout the planning process.

Requirements

To be considered, you will have

  • CSCS Card.
  • Experience in a planning role within the UK construction industry.
  • Strong understanding of construction methodologies, sequencing and project delivery.
  • Good knowledge of NEC contracts and other standard forms of construction contract.
  • Experience facilitating collaborative planning workshops.
  • Proficiency in Primavera P6/Primavera Cloud.
  • Competence using Microsoft Project.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • The ability to present complex programme information clearly to a range of audiences.
  • A proactive, collaborative approach with a commitment to continuous improvement.

Desirable

  • Degree (or equivalent) in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or a related discipline.
