We are currently recruiting experienced Gas Engineers to join a Tier One, leading national contractor delivering major gas infrastructure and utility projects across the UK. The initial requirement is for projects across the North West, with engineers required to support projects nationwide as the programme develops. Projects can run for several months at a time, providing strong continuity of work, with the opportunity to move from temporary into a permanent position for successful candidates.

The Role

As a Gas Engineer, you will be responsible for supporting the safe and efficient delivery of gas infrastructure works across a range of major projects. Depending on the project, duties may include:

  • Carrying out gas infrastructure installation, maintenance and modification works.
  • Working on gas mains, services and associated infrastructure.
  • Installation, alteration and replacement of gas pipework.
  • Working on medium and low-pressure gas networks where suitably qualified.
  • Carrying out gas mains connections, disconnections and alterations.
  • Working on service laying, renewal and replacement.
  • Supporting gas network diversions and infrastructure upgrades.
  • Carrying out gas emergency and repair works where required and within relevant competencies.
  • Working on existing gas assets and undertaking associated isolation, purging and reinstatement activities.
  • Carrying out gas testing and commissioning activities in accordance with project requirements.
  • Supporting pressure reduction, control and associated gas network works where appropriately qualified.
  • Working alongside site supervisors, project managers, utility teams and other engineering disciplines.
  • Reading and working from engineering drawings, specifications and project documentation.
  • Ensuring all works are completed in accordance with relevant gas industry standards, procedures and RAMS.
  • Identifying and reporting defects, hazards, site issues and potential risks.
  • Maintaining accurate records of work completed, testing and relevant site documentation.
  • Ensuring work areas are left safe, secure and compliant following completion.
  • Working within strict health, safety, quality and environmental requirements.
  • Liaising with clients, stakeholders, subcontractors and other site personnel when required.
  • Supporting the wider project team with additional gas engineering duties appropriate to your qualifications and competencies.

What We're Looking For

We are looking for experienced Gas Engineers with a strong background in gas infrastructure and utility works. Candidates will need to hold: Competent Person & SCO 1, SCO 2, SCO 4, and SCO 5. You should be confident working independently, have a strong understanding of safe working practices and be comfortable operating within major infrastructure projects.
