An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced LV Senior Authorised Person (SAP) to join a well-established and growing contractor delivering a portfolio of AMP and wastewater infrastructure projects.

The Role

As the LV SAP, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe management, operation and isolation of low voltage electrical systems across multiple wastewater and water treatment sites.

You will be the technical authority for LV operations on site, supporting project teams throughout construction, commissioning and handover while ensuring all electrical activities are carried out safely and in accordance with company procedures and industry regulations.

Working closely with Site Managers, Project Managers, Commissioning Engineers and Electrical Engineers, you will provide expert guidance on electrical safety and oversee the implementation of safe systems of work.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the appointed LV Senior Authorised Person for allocated projects.
  • Carry out the safe isolation, switching, testing and restoration of LV electrical systems.
  • Prepare, issue and manage Permits to Work, Sanction for Test documentation and other electrical safety documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with Electrical Safety Rules, BS 7671, EAWR and company procedures.
  • Develop, review and approve switching schedules and isolation plans.
  • Undertake risk assessments and review method statements relating to electrical works.
  • Support commissioning and energisation activities across water and wastewater treatment facilities.
  • Coordinate electrical shutdowns to minimise operational disruption.
  • Supervise electrical contractors and ensure safe working practices are maintained at all times.
  • Carry out inspections and audits of electrical installations and site activities.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to site teams on LV electrical matters.
  • Investigate electrical incidents, identify root causes and implement corrective actions where required.
  • Liaise with client representatives, DNOs and other stakeholders to ensure works are completed safely and efficiently.
  • Promote a positive health, safety and environmental culture across all projects.

Experience & Qualifications

The successful candidate will demonstrate

  • Proven experience as an LV Senior Authorised Person (SAP).
  • Previous experience working on AMP water industry frameworks.
  • Strong knowledge of wastewater treatment works, pumping stations and associated electrical infrastructure.
  • Experience supporting commissioning and energisation activities.
  • Excellent understanding of LV switching operations and electrical safety management.
  • Working knowledge of BS 7671, Electricity at Work Regulations and relevant industry standards.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills with the ability to work collaboratively across project teams.
  • Relevant electrical qualifications (City & Guilds, HNC/HND or equivalent desirable).
  • Current LV SAP authorisation.
  • Full UK driving licence.
