We're seeking an experienced Contracts Manager to lead the commercial, programme, and HSEQ delivery of multiple civil/water infrastructure projects within the United Utilities catchment area. You'll take ownership of financial control, risk management, and team leadership, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, and within budget.

Key Responsibilities

  • Commercial & Programme Management
    • Lead programme planning, procurement, and cost control to ensure efficient project delivery
    • Maintain accurate forecasts, CVRs, and end-of-life cost plans
    • Ensure correct commercial engagement and management of subcontractors
    • Implement and manage risk processes, including Early Warnings and Compensation Events
    • Chair internal/external meetings and ensure clear actions and records
    • Manage temporary and permanent design in line with project requirements
  • Health, Safety, Environmental & Quality
    • Champion high standards of HS&E leadership and compliance
    • Allocate HS&E responsibilities and ensure appropriate training is in place
    • Carry out senior management site inspections and oversee audits
    • Ensure compliance with statutory and industry requirements (e.g. NRSWA, HAUC, Chapter 8)
    • Ensure ITPs and QA documentation are produced and maintained
  • Client & Stakeholder Management
    • Build and maintain strong client and stakeholder relationships
    • Lead progress meetings and provide clear performance updates
    • Ensure works minimise impact on the local community
  • Performance Measures
    • Projects delivered safely, on time, and within budget
    • Final accounts agreed within 3 months of completion
    • Accurate and timely weekly/monthly reporting
    • Achievement of business KPIs

About You

Essential

  • Significant experience delivering civil or water sector projects
  • Strong knowledge of NEC contracts, cost control, forecasting, and risk management
  • Good understanding of CDM regulations and design management
  • Proficient in MS Project (P6 advantageous)
  • HNC/HND/Degree (or equivalent)
  • SMSTS & CSCS
  • Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills

Desirable

  • CEng MICE (or equivalent)
  • NEBOSH Construction Certificate
