We have a vacancy to join our team as a Handy Person. We manage and maintain supported housing for people who have an assessed care and support need established by the local authority adults social care department, who may have, but not limited to a learning disability, physical disability or other complex care and support needs.

We are looking for a reliable and trustworthy handy person to manage their own schedule to carry out general maintenance works, meeting deadlines and high standards. To be responsible for the maintenance up-keep of 5 HMOs, and 4 multi-story properties with self-contained flats and communal areas all in close proximity within Solihull. Liaising with the Housing Team, carers and various other trade contractors to organise works and source supplies.

To be an effective Handyperson: You will be hard-working, with outstanding problem-solving abilities. Skillful hands, good physical stamina, and some technical knowledge of home repairs, plumbing and building works. Must be able to work alone and have good communication and time management skills.

Examples of Works:

  • To carry out basic checks on a faulty boiler, checking pressure, leaks, fault code etc
  • To carry out basic checks of a faulty appliance; plug, fuse, leaks, filters, pipes etc
  • Removal and Installation of integrated appliances
  • Repairing broken door handles, kitchen cupboard doors and drawers
  • Tile repairs, chalking and resealing works
  • Attending to leaks, damp proofing, water sealing
  • Paint and plaster work
  • Moving old furniture and appliances outside for collection

Previous experience essential. Immediate start. Self-Employed Basis. Permanent, full-time. Location: Solihull, Walsall, Birmingham. Hours: Fulltime flexible.

We provide supported housing for people with design features and services that enables people to maintain their independence and facilitate them living in their own homes, where they might otherwise have to stay dependent, or become dependent on more intensive models of care.
