Based in the North of the UK, we are working with one of the UK’s leading plant and operated hire businesses. A trusted name on some of the country’s largest infrastructure projects, we’re a company with serious ambition and people firmly at the heart of what we do.

We’re looking for a Head of Sales to lead and grow our Midlands & North region — leading a team of five — and to take our most senior customer relationships to the next level.

  • Own the growth plan: Build and deliver the sales and growth strategy for the Midlands & North, in line with our wider business priorities.
  • Lead the team: Coach, motivate and develop a team of five to consistently meet and exceed their targets, building a genuine one-team culture.
  • Hold senior relationships: Build and grow our most senior relationships with major Tier 1 contractors and large regional builders across the region.
  • Drive into the regionals: Identify and convert growth opportunities across the larger regional contractor base.
  • Own the numbers: Take accountability for the regional budget and performance, monitoring budget vs actual and acting decisively to close any gap.
  • Stay commercially sharp: Maintain discipline across rate, utilisation, quality of revenue and debt, working with our commercial team on tenders and proposals.

Hire-sector experience: A sales leadership background in plant hire or an adjacent hire sector (e.g. powered access, tool hire, welfare/accommodation, temporary works, traffic management, or power/generation hire).

Proven leadership: A track record of leading a sales team to budget at meaningful scale.

Strategic capability: Evidence of building and delivering a regional growth plan, not just running one.

Commercial fluency: A strong grasp of the hire model: utilisation, rate management, budget-vs-actual and debt.

Senior relationships: Established credibility with Tier 1 main contractors and major regional contractors.

Full UK driving licence.

We pride ourselves on an inclusive, supportive culture that drives wellbeing, high performance — and a bit of fun along the way.
