About The Challenge

As a Freelance Learning Designer you’ll work closely with internal and external stakeholders to create high‑quality, impactful learning content. Your responsibilities include needs analysis, curriculum development, authoring with tools like Articulate Rise and Synthesia, and ensuring brand‑aligned visual aesthetics. You will support both synchronous and asynchronous deliverables, keeping materials current and aligned with client expectations and educational standards.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Content design and development
  • Create synchronous and asynchronous curricula, lesson plans, scripts, storyboards, decks, toolkits and other assets.
  • Develop engaging content using Articulate Rise and Synthesia.
  • Ensure visual consistency with brand guidelines across all learning materials.
  • Conduct thorough research and cite credible sources.
• Collaboration
  • Collaborate with SMEs, copywriters, graphic designers and videographers.
  • Work with programme managers to deliver lesson plans, decks, toolkits, surveys, trainer guides and handouts on schedule.
  • Support TTT trainers and facilitate learning assimilation.

Essential Skills

• Bachelor’s degree in Instructional Design, Educational Technology or a related field.
• 3+ years experience as a learning or instructional designer in corporate or agency settings.
• Experience designing full‑stack learning content from needs analysis to TTT delivery.
• Basic graphic design skills; proficiency with Google Worksuite (Slides, Sheets, Docs).
• Proficiency with Articulate Rise, Google Slides and Synthesia.
• Subject‑matter expertise in AI or digital skills is a significant plus.

Desired Qualifications & Experience

• Leadership of learning projects from inception to completion; familiarity with Six Sigma or Prince2.
• Advanced experience with Articulate Storyline, Synthesia or similar authoring tools.
• Relevant certifications from recognised instructional‑design or educational‑technology bodies.
• Coaching or mentoring accreditation.
• Depth of knowledge across Upskill’s Inclusion, Workforce and Impact domains.
