Job Location: Polar Speed UPS, Chartmoor Road, Site 2, Leighton Buzzard, Bedfordshire, LU7 4WG

Work Schedule: Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week, 7am start time

Salary: £13.04 per hour, Monday to Friday including overtime, any overtime worked on weekend or bank holidays are paid at one and one half times the hourly rate at £19.56 per hour.

Allowances: £13 per day if 66% of route covers M25, PLUS £13 per day if 66% of route covers London congestion zone.

Please note, for successful candidates, Polar Speed will run an enhanced DBS check, and 3 years referencing checks.

Job Purpose and Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the scanning of packages or pallets to your delivery vehicle
  • Manage the safe and secure loading of all consignments to your vehicle
  • Conduct daily diligence on vehicle safety checks and refrigeration unit
  • Report any issues found on vehicle checks to line manager prior to despatch
  • Ensure vehicle is in temperature prior to loading
  • Delivery and collection of pharmaceutical consignments to GP Surgeries, Retail Pharmacies, Hospitals, Wholesalers, and Home Delivery Patients
  • Communication of operational delays or delivery failures as soon as known to the management team at the depot
  • Correct completion of EPOD/APOD, driver manifest, collection, refusal paperwork
  • Managing the returns process
  • Maintain the cleanliness of the company vehicle
  • Maintain the cleanliness of company uniform and ensure correct PPE is worn, safety boots/steel toe capped footwear, High Viz

Specialized Knowledge and Requirements:

  • Minimum Category B drivers licence with ideally no more than 3 points
  • Experience in multi drop deliveries with customer contact
  • Previous home and/or hospital temperature controlled delivery experience desired but not essential
  • Good communication skills
  • Team player mentality with the ability to work on own initiative
  • Must be able to build effective working relationships with management team, colleagues, and other departments across the business
  • Must appreciate the need for maintaining confidentiality
  • Must be able to build effective working relationships with clients
