Job Summary
The Customer Solutions Sustainability Development & Implementation Specialist is part of UPS’s Solution & Development (SOLDI) organization within Customer Solutions. In this role, you act as a Sustainability Subject Matter Expert (SME), driving the development and deployment of innovative, customer-centric sustainability solutions across Europe. You will play a key role in shaping and expanding UPS’s sustainable solutions portfolio, supporting customers on their decarbonization and circular economy journeys. This includes designing scalable products as well as tailored solutions that create measurable environmental and business value. The role combines solution design, project leadership, and customer engagement, requiring strong collaboration with Sales, Marketing, Revenue Management, Corporate Sustainability teams, and other Customer Solutions functions. You will lead cross-functional initiatives and virtual project teams to deliver impactful solutions that help win, grow, and retain business.
Key Responsibilities
- Sustainability Solution Development & Delivery: Design, develop, and implement innovative sustainability solutions and products aligned with customer needs and UPS strategic priorities. Build and evaluate business cases for new sustainability offerings. Translate customer sustainability challenges into practical, value-driven logistics solutions.
- Customer Engagement & Consultancy: Act as a trusted advisor to customers on sustainability topics (e.g., carbon reduction, insetting, offsetting, circular economy). Support customer discussions, pitches, and workshops together with Customer Facing teams. Identify opportunities to enhance customer value and deepen partnerships through sustainability.
- Project Leadership & Implementation: Lead and deliver medium-complex, cross-functional projects across the region. Manage virtual project teams and stakeholders, ensuring timely and high-quality delivery. Drive implementation while effectively navigating cross-functional alignment and resistance.
- Product Ownership & Continuous Improvement: Own and manage selected Customer Solutions sustainability products, ensuring performance, relevance, and scalability. Monitor operational effectiveness and drive continuous improvement initiatives. Identify opportunities to expand or optimize existing solutions.
- Data Analysis & Insights: Analyse operational and carbon-related data to derive actionable insights and recommendations. Evaluate solution performance pre- and post-implementation to ensure measurable impact.
- Stakeholder Management & Collaboration: Partner closely with Sales, Marketing, Revenue Management, Corporate Sustainability, and other Solution teams. Ensure transparent communication and alignment across all project stakeholders. Contribute to building sustainability knowledge and capability within Customer Solutions.
Qualifications & Experience
- Education & Experience: Bachelor’s degree (or international equivalent) preferred. Experience in supply chain, logistics, sustainability, or consulting environments is an advantage.
- Skills & Competencies: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to think innovatively. Proven ability to manage projects and drive execution across functions. Customer-focused mindset with strong consultative and communication skills. Ability to work independently with a high level of ownership and accountability. Collaborative team player with a proactive, solution-oriented approach.
- Sustainability Knowledge (Preferred): Understanding of key sustainability topics, including carbon emissions and reporting, insetting and offsetting mechanisms, circular economy principles. Passion for sustainability and its role in supply chain transformation.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in MS Office tools (Excel, PowerPoint, Word). Advanced Excel and data analysis skills are an advantage.
- Additional Requirements: Good understanding of UPS products, services, and network operations (preferred). Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
