UPS Capital, one of the main UPS divisions, provides risk mitigation and insurance solutions for businesses of all sizes and industries along global supply chains. We are seeking a commercially minded, process- and project-driven leader to evolve and scale our underwriting capability across our International Region (Europe, Asia, and the Americas). This is not a traditional underwriting role, but a platform leadership position sitting at the intersection of:

  • Underwriting expertise
  • Operational excellence
  • Systems and digital delivery
  • Policy administration
  • Compliance

You will play a critical role in how underwriting is executed, scaled, and continuously improved, while retaining strong alignment to marine cargo risk and portfolio performance. This role is ideal for a “builder-underwriter” - someone who thrives in transforming environments and wants to own and shape an underwriting engine end-to-end.

What you’ll do

  1. End-to-End Underwriting Operations Ownership
    • Own and continuously improve submission-to-bind, policy administration and compliance workflows across Europe
    • Drive efficiency, standardisation, and scalability of underwriting processes
    • Identify bottlenecks and implement structured process improvements
  2. Systems, Data & Digital Enablement
    • Lead the development and optimisation of underwriting platforms
    • Workflow tools
    • Data flows and reporting infrastructure
  3. Project & Change Leadership
    • Lead cross-functional transformation projects across operations, underwriting, and customer experience
    • Deliver initiatives aligned to growth, efficiency, and customer experience
    • Implement structured change management and measurable outcomes
  4. Portfolio & Risk Contribution
    • Contribute to underwriting decisions on complex cargo risks
    • Ensure alignment between risk appetite, pricing discipline, and operational execution
    • Support profitable portfolio growth through balanced commercial judgement
  5. Sales & Commercial Partnership
    • Improve turnaround times and conversion
    • Enable scalable growth
    • Balance risk with commercial opportunity
  6. Leadership & Team Development
    • Lead and develop a high-performing underwriting operations team
    • Build a culture focused on execution excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement

What you’ll bring

  • Experience in underwriting operations, process design, or transformation
  • Strong project management and change capability
  • Experience with systems, workflows, and digital tools
  • Commercial awareness and strong cross-functional collaboration skills

Preferred

  • Marine/Cargo insurance experience
  • Exposure to MGA, Lloyd’s, or transformation environments
  • ACII or equivalent qualifications
