Job Description: Ground Support Equipment Mechanic UPS East Midlands Airport (EMA) UPS is seeking a skilled and experiencedGround Support Equipment (GSE) Mechanicto join the team at East Midlands Airport. This is anairside role, working in a well-equipped workshop environment, supporting critical airport operations. Youll play a key role as asenior mechanic, maintaining and repairing essential equipment used in aircraft handling and operations. What Youll Get Competitive salary of£41,392+ shift premium (£4.98/hour between 8pm6am) Company pension scheme & life assurance Tool allowance of£30 Clean, modern workshop environment with full PPE provided Holiday pay Discounts across major retailers, cinemas, and attractions HGV Licence Upgrade Programme Strong internal progression opportunities (promotion from within) Stable, well-structured working environment with consistent workload Airside pass and exposure to a highly regulated aviation setting What Youll Need Level 3 qualification inHGV Mechanics(or equivalent) Proven experience as a mechanic (GSE or heavy vehicles preferred) Strong knowledge ofmechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems Experience diagnosing and repairing complex equipment faults Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics Full, clean driving licence Ability to obtain airport security clearance Strong attention to detail and a safety-first mindset Comfortable working both independently and within a small team Desirable: ~ Previous experience in anairport environment (ideally EMA) ~23 years of relevant experience in a similar role What Youll Do Carry out inspections, preventative maintenance, and repairs on GSE Work on equipment such asdeck loaders, cargo tractors, air start units, and ground power units Diagnose and repairmechanical, electrical, and hydraulic faults Perform scheduled servicing (fluid changes, filters, adjustments, etc.) Overhaul and rebuild engines, transmissions, and major components Maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation Collaborate with the team to prioritise and complete repairs efficiently Ensure workshop cleanliness, organisation, and safety standards are met Stay up to date with industry regulations and technical developments Communicate effectively with colleagues, supervisors, and suppliers Employment Permanent Employee Type: Permanent UPS is committed to providing a workplace free of discrimination, harassment, and retaliation.
