The successful candidate will support month-end close activities, journal preparation, account reconciliations, accounting controls, and process improvement initiatives across the business. This role will work closely with internal stakeholders and external service providers toensure accurate accounting records, timely close execution, and continuous enhancement of accounting processes through automation and technology solutions.Job duties:The key responsibilities include but are not limited to:Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activitiesPrepare and post journal entries and maintain appropriate supporting documentation.Review and approval of external service provider activities such as journal entries and reconciliations, as well as resolve reconciling items on a timely basis.Support accounting activities including duties and taxes, revenue, transportation costs and rebate accounting.Prepare monthly variance explanations for SOX purposes.Perform control checks and remediation of errors in a timely manner.Collaborate with other teams and stakeholders to resolve issues and improve processes.Manage reporting and stakeholder communication.Support automation, reporting enhancement, and continuous improvement initiatives using tools such as Power BI, Alteryx and other finance technologies.Assist with ad hoc accounting projects and business requests as required.Qualified candidates will have the following Key Skills:Strong analytical and critical thinking skillAttention to detail and accuracySelf-starter, capable of using initiative with the ability to work independently and as part of a teamAbility to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environmentDemonstrates a collaborative, solution-oriented approachBuilds effective working relationships across functions and levels of the organizationAbility to communicate effectively and succinctly, both verbally and in writing across various teams and stakeholdersInterest in leveraging technology, automation, and data analytics to enhance accounting processesKnowledge Requirements Required:Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or a related disciplineQualified or partly qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalentMinimum of 3 years of finance and accounting experienceExcellent Microsoft Office Skills (i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint)Detailed knowledge of accounting processes and principlesExperience with month-end close, journal preparation, account reconciliations, and general ledger accountingPreferred:US GAAP experienceExperience using ERP systems, preferably OracleEmployee Type:PermanentUPS is committed to providing a workplace free of discrimination, harassment, and retaliation.SummaryLocation: GB - MARKEN - LONDON OFFICE (GBPOW)Type: Full time
