Job Description:

Polar Speed, RH Logistics is a UPS Healthcare Company, specialising in logistics solutions such as dedicated transport services, White Glove Services, high-tech warehousing, technical services, spare parts management, and demo systems management.

We are looking for a reliable and enthusiastic driver to join our Driving Team, who deliver and collect high-value medical equipment around the UK, to and from NHS and private hospitals, as well as medical conferences, all from our depot in Stevenage, Hertfordshire.

Location: Polar Speed UPS, Unit 4, Eastman Way, Stevenage, Hertfordshire, SG1 4SZ

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 45 - 55 hours per week, start and finish times vary, total flexibility is required to suit the needs of the business, which may be of an urgent medical nature. Overnight stays as required by planned duties.

Job Purpose:

  • Driving a 3.5T Panel Van, fully fitted out to carry fragile medical equipment
  • Delivery of specialist equipment, locking and loading/strapping of high-end medical equipment, as per white glove delivery service
  • Willing to go the extra mile to assist sales members, at exhibitions and customer requests
  • Ensuring that time-critical deliveries are met
  • Checking correct items and quantities are on deliveries and collections, undamaged, preparing and wrapping for delivery and collection. Reporting any issues or defects immediately, regarding damage and anomalies
  • Liaising directly with sales and office staff
  • Following a strict cleaning regime
  • Health and Safety: maintain a clean safe working environment
  • Scanning of items on delivery and collection using Filemaker Drivers App to ensure stock traceability along with stock integrity

Accountability:

  • Completion of weekly vehicle checks as per company compliance rules and regulations
  • Expert knowledge of road safety and highway code
  • Comprehensive driving background with technical experience in fragile transport with knowledge of lock and load ratchet system
  • Ensure all medical equipment is delivered and collected matching serial numbers and itemised list safely, undamaged and on time

Specialised Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

  • Minimum category B Drivers Licence (ideally no more than 3 points)
  • Minimum 2 years driving experience
  • Comprehensive driving background with technical experience in fragile transport with knowledge of lock and load ratchet system
  • Excellent organisational skills and time management
  • Team player mentality with ability to work on own initiative
  • Ability to work well under pressure, to meet deadlines and changing priorities
  • Good knowledge of strapping securing loads for transit
  • Must appreciate the need for maintaining confidentiality
  • Ability to build effective working relationships with clients and colleagues
