We seek to appoint a first-rate teacher of Mathematics to inspire and challenge our pupils to work at the highest academic levels in their Maths studies. This role would suit a Mathematics teacher at any point in their career: you could expect to teach most, if not all, year groups from 4th Form (year 9) to Upper Sixth (year 13).

Our intention is that all teachers at Uppingham are comfortable teaching any part of the curriculum: when this is not the case, in-house mentoring and CPD sessions are provided to enable this in the future. Members of the department discuss, formally and informally, teaching techniques and pupil progress on an almost daily basis.

Teachers at Uppingham also play a full part in the life of this seven-day week boarding school, taking on responsibilities in addition to classroom teaching. The cocurricular programme is exceptionally varied and includes a wide range of sports, CCF, community service and the Duke of Edinburgh Award. Each teacher is also attached as a tutor to one of the school’s sixteen houses.

We are looking for someone with the gifts and skills as a teacher to make a difference to our pupils. You will need to be a strong, dynamic character with excellent subject knowledge, good classroom management skills and the ability to build an appropriate rapport with pupils. The abilities to communicate well and work as part of a team are essential. You will also have high personal and professional standards, with well-developed pastoral instincts.

What we offer:

  • 50% Contribution towards premiums for the school’s private health scheme
  • Discount on School fees
  • Discount at a local nursery in Uppingham
  • 25% Discount on holiday club fees for children of Uppingham staff
  • Westfield healthcare
  • Westfield Rewards which gives discounts at various retailers, gyms, cinemas, and restaurants
  • Contributory pension scheme
  • Employee Assistance Programme
  • In house Occupational Health Service
  • Membership to dual-use Sports Centre (with a ÂŁ25 annual joining fee)

  • Recognised as a “Disability Confident” employer
