As a Teaching Assistant within the science department, you will support high‑quality teaching and learning across a range of subjects. You will assist teachers in delivering practical lessons, preparing materials, maintaining equipment and ensuring adherence to health and safety procedures. You will work closely with staff to support students’ understanding, engagement and progress, providing additional guidance where needed and contributing to a positive, inclusive and well‑organised learning environment.
Responsibilities
- Assist with the planning, delivery and evaluation of whole‑class learning activities, including identifying how pupils can best be supported.
- Work under the supervision of a teacher to plan, deliver and evaluate learning activities for small groups or individual pupils, providing feedback on pupil engagement and their achievement of the desired learning objectives.
- Help prepare, monitor and maintain a safe and secure learning environment in line with the teacher’s lesson plans.
- Promote the development of pupils’ self‑reliance, self‑esteem and emotional resilience.
Experience
- Experience of supporting teaching and learning in a formal setting.

- Knowledge of child protection and health and safety procedures.

Travel & Driving Requirements
Depending on your role, occasional travel between Discovery locations may be required. A valid driving licence and appropriate business insurance are necessary, and you must provide evidence of these documents.
Qualifications
Level 2 qualifications in maths/numeracy and English/literacy, or competence equivalent to Level 2.
