Uppingham Community College is looking for caring, experienced and enthusiastic Teaching Assistants to support students in our Enhanced Resource Provision (ERP). The ERP is a specialist provision within our mainstream school designed for children who have an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) and require specialist and individualised support. Students work within the ERP to maintain access to the mainstream curriculum and environment while receiving tailored support to meet their needs.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the planning, delivery and evaluation of whole‑class learning activities, including identifying how pupils can best be supported.
  • Work under the supervision of a teacher to plan, deliver and evaluate learning activities for small groups or individual pupils, providing feedback on pupil engagement and achievement of desired learning objectives.
  • Help prepare, monitor and maintain a safe and secure learning environment in line with the teacher’s lesson plans.
  • Promote the development of pupils’ self‑reliance, self‑esteem and emotional resilience.

Qualifications & Experience

  • NVQ3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning, or equivalent, or the ability to meet the STL Level 3 National Occupational Standards relevant to this post.
  • Level 2 qualifications in maths/numeracy and English/literacy, or equivalent competency in literacy and numeracy.
  • Experience of supporting teaching and learning in a formal setting.
  • Knowledge of child protection and health and safety procedures.
  • Ability and willingness to undertake professional development.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • Empathy with children and young people.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Valid driving licence and appropriate business insurance where travel between locations is required.
