Nottingham based/hybrid working. Upperton Pharma Solutions is a Nottingham-based CDMO that specialises in the development and manufacture of pharmaceutical products, providing a complete service from early-stage feasibility to GMP clinical manufacture. Formulations cover a range of delivery routes, typically including oral (tablets & capsules), nasal and inhaled.

This role will be based on deep market understanding and customer insights, ensuring sales activities, marketing and communication strategies are delivered to a defined strategy. Developing and building a robust pipeline by identifying and securing new customers resulting from direct interactions with pharma and biotech companies is key for this role. Furthermore, an ability to understand and succinctly articulate a customer's technical challenges with our technical experts to build a tailored solution is considered a critical aspect of the role.
Main duties and responsibilities:
- Accountable for achieving ambitious sales targets for new business.
- Responsible for the entire business development process from lead generation to contract close.
- Development of a comprehensive business development strategy ensuring sales targets are delivered.
- Ensuring Salesforce data is kept up to date and accurate.
- To quickly learn Upperton's technical capabilities and clearly articulate to clients at all levels.
- Build a strong relationship with Upperton SMEs in order to effectively deliver scientific solutions to our partners.
- Responsible for Business intelligence - understand and monitor the competitive landscape within the CDMO sector.
- Travelling for face-to-face client meetings, conferences and seminars will be an essential part of the role.
- Aid and support the creation of proposals in alignment with Upperton's proposal team.
- Work closely with Project Management colleagues to monitor project progression and identify potential up-sell and/or cross-sell opportunities.
Essential skills and experience:
- A suitable level of scientific understanding of the drug product development process.
- Experience in the field of dosage form development with a successful track record in selling development programs that range from early feasibility through to dosage form development and clinical manufacture or related industry experience.
- Excellent, up to date knowledge of the marketplace, clients, and competitors.
- Ability to understand the commercial and scientific aspects of drug product development across a broad range of dosage forms.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills.
- Proficient in the use of customer management software.
