Here at UPP we have a great opportunity for a Maintenance Manager (Electrical or Plumbing biased) to join our onsite team in Plymouth. Managing and motivating a team of 11, you will effectively lead, plan and manage the site’s maintenance function to provide an excellent service to all residents, including being ‘hands on’ when needed to achieve this. The team looks after planned life cycle and responsive maintenance for our 1,700 student rooms including high rise buildings, all in line with the Service Level Agreements. This is a role where your technical knowledge and expertise make a difference. You’ll lead by example, be encouraged to challenge how things are done, and develop the team’s technical capability to drive continuous improvement. If you enjoy being visible on site, solving problems, mentoring others and knowing that students rely on the standards you set every day, this is the ideal next role for you.
This is a permanent full-time position working 37.5 hours per week from 9.00am - 5.30pm Monday to Friday. The salary is up to £48,800 per annum dependant on experience and qualifications. A current UK driving licence is essential for this role, as well as access to a car and the ability to be on-site within 30 minutes when on-call.
Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with appropriate statutory and regulatory requirements
- Ensure service standards are achieved in line with company SOPs and SLAs
- Effective management of key contract processes such as response times and temporary fix notification
- Produce reports, including service delivery statistics
- Prepare and deliver the annual PPM programme of works through directly employed and sub-contracted staff, in a timely manner and within budget
- Maintain accurate records of breakdowns and maintenance repairs
- Provision and implementation of the long term maintenance and refurbishment plan through the undertaking of conditions surveys
- Manage sub-contracted and directly employed maintenance staff to ensure service is effectively planned, achieved and continuously improved
- Plan staff resources and manage the Maintenance Team including monitoring training records and staff performance
Qualifications
- Experience in managing and coaching a maintenance team in a similar environment
- Knowledge of planned preventative maintenance regimes for all building elements – mechanical, electrical, public health and building fabric
- Minimum Level 3 qualification in either Plumbing or Electrical
- Knowledge of statutory compliance and a commitment to a safe and professional working culture
- Resilient and capable of managing competing priorities in a busy operational environment
- Effective written and verbal communication
- Strong leadership skills positively impacting on the wider team as a ‘hands on’ team member
- Good IT skills in a Microsoft Windows Environment
