It’s about the environment, the atmosphere and the people – creating that sense of home that will help students feel safe, secure, and help them thrive.**Here at UPP we have a great opportunity for a Maintenance Supervisor (Tech) here at UPP (Electrical or Plumbing biased) to join our onsite team in Oxford.**Managing and motivating a team of 4, you will effectively lead, plan and manage the site’s day-to-day maintenance function to provide an excellent service to all residents, including being ‘hands on’ to achieve this. The team looks after PPM, reactive, and life cycle maintenance for our student accommodation blocks, all in line with the Service Level Agreements. Grounds maintenance and external site waste management are also maintenance team responsibilities.This is a role where your technical knowledge and expertise make a difference. You’ll lead by example, be encouraged to challenge how things are done, and develop the team’s technical capability to drive continuous improvement. If you enjoy being visible on site, solving problems, mentoring others and knowing that students rely on the standards you set every day, this is the ideal next role for you.This is a permanent full-time position working 40 hours per week from 8.00am - 5.00pm Monday to Friday. The salary is £40,685 per annum.**Role responsibilities include:*** Ensure compliance with appropriate statutory and regulatory requirements* Work with the General Manager on ensuring service standards are achieved in line with company Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Service Level Agreements (SLAs)* Deliver the annual PPM programme of works through directly employed and sub-contracted staff, in a timely manner and within budget* Manage our CAFM system, to include allocation of tasks both planned and reactive, and maintain accurate records of breakdowns and maintenance repairs* Manage sub-contracted and directly employed maintenance staff to ensure service is effectively planned, achieved and continuously improved, including issuing of Permits-to-work.* Plan staff resources and manage the Maintenance Team including monitoring training records and staff performance* An understanding of Health and Safety and delivery of Toolbox Talks.* Assist the General Manager in preparing and delivering the sinking fund programme of works* Escalate any Health and Safety issues to the General Manager and ensure any follow up actions are completed* Participate in an on call rota, and work during student arrival and departure when required* Other duties as commensurate with the post**We are looking for**you to already have experience in managing and coaching a maintenance team in a similar environment along with:* Knowledge of planned preventative maintenance regimes for all building elements – mechanical, electrical, public health and building fabric* Minimum Level 3 qualification in either Plumbing or Electrical* Knowledge of statutory compliance and a commitment to a safe and professional working culture* Resilient and capable of managing competing priorities in a busy operational environment* Effective written and verbal communication* Strong leadership skills positively impacting on the wider team as a ‘hands on’ team member* Good IT skills in a Microsoft Windows Environment* Working both on and off tools where appropriate.**In return, we are offering** a fun and interesting environment to work in with a competitive salary and a great benefits package which includes 25 days holiday plus bank holidays, life insurance, pension, training, two paid volunteering days each year, cycle to work scheme, store discounts, as well as discounts from a variety of top retailers, restaurants gyms and more.UPP welcome all applications and recognise the value of having a diverse and inclusive culture, which reflects the communities we work with and has a positive impact on our people, our student residents, and our university partners.We understand all disabilities, impairments and conditions are unique, so please advise us of any adjustments which would support you through our recruitment process and help you to thrive at work.Our core values of Innovation, Sustainability, Community, Partnership and Respect, are fundamental to our culture and summarise what is important to our business and our people.**We are a team with energy, pace and passion, and we truly care about the experience of our residents and invite you to join us in helping make a positive difference to students living away from home in our accommodation.****Who are UPP?**We are proud to be the UK’s leading provider of on-campus residential and academic accommodation, with over 35,000 beds where more than 500,000 students from around the world have called home over the years.
