Uplift360 UK is looking for an enthusiastic lab technician to join our sustainable materials company. The chosen candidate will receive comprehensive training and professional development, playing a crucial role in the effective running of a research lab. Your core responsibilities include the daily maintenance and smooth operation of the lab, adhering strictly to SOPs and health and safety requirements. You will also work closely with the R&D team, conducting standard tests on materials produced by Uplift360. The right candidate will be enthusiastic about fighting climate change, circular economics and green technologies.
We are an advanced materials company developing chemical based technology to reuse and recycle advanced materials. Through the development of novel low-energy and low temperature chemical systems, Uplift360’s ground-breaking circular economic technologies are creating new alternatives to incineration or landfill for advanced materials. This reduces waste, produces low carbon materials and lowers cost of recycling to make reuse and recycling applicable to the widest range of composite and advanced materials. We operate in multiple domains including automotive, defence, aerospace and renewable energy, working with a range of high value composites that contain reinforcing fibres including carbon fibre, aramids, UHMWPE, and glass fibre.
Key Accountabilities
- Ensuring smooth and efficient running of an industrial research lab.
- Proficient handling of chemicals following rigorous health and safety protocols.
- Planning and executing analytical measurements and experiments under the supervision of material scientists.
- Analysing collected data using prescribed templates.
- Making SOPs and reports.
- Handling chemical inventory; placing orders and receiving goods in a timely manner.
- Ensuring lab equipment is well maintained and calibrated.
- Promoting Uplift360’s vision, mission and core values internally and externally.

Essential Knowledge, Skills and Personal Qualities
- A-levels or BTEC in the sciences with a minimum of 3 years of experience in an industrial research laboratory.
- Degree in a science with lab-based experience.
- Confident with a practical hands‑on approach in the lab and excellent self‑starter as well as a dedicated team player.
- Flexibility and willingness to work in a multidisciplinary team.
- Excellent communication and people skills.
- Proficient in computer applications including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
- Be a self‑starter, comfortable in operating in fast‑paced and uncertain environments.
- Be located within and/or be willing to relocate to Bristol or nearby town/city.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
- Industrial experience in a laboratory environment.
- 1 or above in material science, chemistry or chemical engineering.
- Experience in procurement, interfacing with chemical suppliers or equipment vendors.
- Manual handling qualifications.
