UPL is seeking a motivated and patient‑focused Registered Pharmacist to join our vibrant outpatient pharmacy team within the NHS. You will be expected to work in a fast-paced environment, working within a large team and providing a patient-centred service, whilst maintaining a healthy work-life balance. This role is perfect for an ambitious Pharmacist who can build strong relationships with varying healthcare professionals.
UPL is a wholly owned subsidiary of University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust, providing pharmacy services for hospital staff, outpatients, and visitors. Conveniently located in the main foyer of the hospital, the pharmacy offers a wide range of over-the-counter medicines and healthcare products. The pharmacy operates:
- Monday – Friday: 09:00 – 18:00
- Saturday: 09:00 – 13:00
- Sundays: 10:00 – 16:00

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
What you will do:
- To be accountable for providing safe and efficient pharmaceutical services to all service users visiting the outpatient pharmacy department.
- To carry out clinical checks (screening) of all outpatient prescriptions, including oncology outpatients.
- To accuracy-check prescriptions before handout.
- To counsel patients on the safe and effective use of medicines.
- To provide advice to all customers.
- To be responsible and reliable for supporting safe and efficient delivery of outpatient services.
