Role Description

This full-time, on-site Experienced Upholsterer role is based in Staines-Upon-Thames.

The Experienced Upholsterer will work on bespoke furniture pieces, including measuring, cutting, and fitting fabrics, foams, and fillings to frames, and executing both traditional and modern upholstery techniques.

Daily responsibilities include stripping and reupholstering existing furniture, building and shaping padding, fitting springs, finishing seams and trims, and ensuring high-quality, consistent workmanship.

The role involves close collaboration with designers and colleagues to interpret design briefs, meet project specifications, and maintain production schedules.

The Experienced Upholsterer will also help maintain a safe, organized workshop, care for tools and equipment, and uphold Upholstory’s standards of quality and craftsmanship.

Qualifications

  • Strong upholstery craftsmanship, including traditional and modern techniques, fabric cutting, padding, spring fitting, and finishing.
  • Experience working with bespoke and high-end furniture, with a focus on precision, attention to detail, and quality control.
  • Ability to read and interpret design briefs, sketches, and measurements, and to translate them into finished pieces.
  • Practical skills in hand tools and machinery commonly used in upholstery, with commitment to safe working practices.
