Carpentry and Joinery Estimator Salary: £50,000 – £65,000, depending on experience Location: West Drayton, Middlesex Position: Full-time, Permanent Up Front Recruitment is working with an established carpentry and joinery contractor to recruit an experienced Carpentry and Joinery Estimator. Based from the company’s office and manufacturing premises in West Drayton, this position will suit an estimator with a good understanding of carpentry, bespoke joinery or interior fit-out packages. The company works with main contractors, builders, architects, interior designers and private clients. Its projects range from large commercial developments to high-end residential construction and renovation. About the company Established in 2008, the business provides a complete carpentry and joinery service covering consultation, design, manufacture, installation and finishing. The company has its own joinery workshop and an experienced in-house team, many of whom have worked together for more than 16 years. Its work includes bespoke staircases, cabinetry, kitchens, doorsets, panelling, mouldings and fitted furniture, alongside large carpentry packages. The wider carpentry operation covers first and second fix work, timber frames, roofing, flooring, studwork, partitions, doors, skirting and architraves. About the role As Carpentry and Joinery Estimator, you will manage enquiries from the initial review through to the submission of a complete and competitive quotation. You will assess drawings, specifications and tender information, build up material and labour costs, obtain supplier prices and identify anything that could affect the cost or delivery of the work. The position will involve estimating both standard carpentry packages and detailed bespoke joinery projects. Responsibilities * Review drawings, specifications, schedules and tender documents * Work with the design, manufacturing and installation teams * Liaise with clients, main contractors, architects and suppliers * Prepare and submit quotations within agreed tender deadlines * Maintain pricing information and tender records * Assist with handovers once projects have been secured * Support negotiations and answer commercial or technical queries About you The successful candidate will ideally have: * Previous estimating experience within carpentry, joinery, fit-out or a related construction sector * A practical understanding of carpentry and joinery materials, manufacturing and installation * Experience reading construction drawings and specifications * The ability to complete accurate take-offs and cost build-ups * Strong numerical and organisational skills * Confidence dealing with clients, contractors and suppliers * The ability to manage several tenders and meet deadlines * Experience using estimating software and Microsoft Excel Applications are also welcome from experienced carpenters, joiners, quantity surveyors or contracts professionals who have the technical knowledge needed to move into estimating.
