About the Company
Up Front Recruitment is supporting an established specialist surfacing contractor delivering asphalt, tarmac, resin and concrete works across commercial, aviation, rail, residential, educational and local authority sectors.
The business manages projects ranging from commercial developments and property schemes to specialist aviation works, maintenance and repairs, supported by experienced surfacing teams and trained operatives.
Its aviation work includes runway, taxiway and apron surfacing, while commercial projects include ports, retail parks, warehousing and other developments.
Why Join Them
This is a varied office-based role within a practical construction environment where the successful individual can develop the position around their existing strengths.
The business has a broad range of ongoing work, meaning the role will involve dealing with different projects, people, plant, materials and operational requirements rather than carrying out the same administrative tasks every day.
There is flexibility to make use of previous experience from surfacing, construction, plant or another relevant operational environment, with additional training available to help the successful candidate develop their knowledge of the business and its requirements.
About the Role
The Co-ordinator / Operations Administrator will provide day-to-day administrative and operational support to the team, helping ensure projects and site activities are properly organised.
The role will involve a mixture of administration, co-ordination and operational support, with responsibilities including:
- Providing day-to-day administrative support to the operations team.
- Coordinating information between the office, site teams, suppliers and other stakeholders.
- Assisting with the planning and scheduling of labour, plant and materials.
- Maintaining accurate project and operational records.
- Updating spreadsheets, systems and relevant documentation.
- Helping coordinate deliveries, plant and equipment requirements.
- Assisting with the organisation of site resources and project requirements.
- Supporting the team with general operational queries.
- Communicating with suppliers, subcontractors and other external contacts.
- Helping ensure information is passed to site teams accurately and on time.
- Monitoring outstanding actions and following up where required.
- Providing administrative support across ongoing commercial and specialist surfacing projects.
- Taking on additional responsibilities that match the successful candidate's existing experience and strengths.
Direct surfacing experience is not essential, although it would be advantageous.
Candidates with a background in construction, plant, highways, civils or another related operational environment may be well suited to the position.
Strong administration experience is essential.
The successful candidate will need to be organised, reliable and comfortable dealing with several priorities while maintaining accurate records and clear communication.
Additional training will be provided, and there is flexibility within the position for the successful candidate to develop their responsibilities according to their existing knowledge and areas of expertise.
Summary
This is a good opportunity for an experienced administrator who wants to work in a practical construction and surfacing environment rather than a purely administrative setting.
The flexibility of the role means the successful candidate can bring their existing industry knowledge to the business while developing additional skills through training and hands-on operational experience.
