This is an excellent opportunity for an Operations Manager who enjoys ownership, structure, and improving how a workshop runs day to day, while playing a key role in the continued growth of a modern offsite construction business.
About the Company
Launched in 2024 as the offsite division of a long-established mechanical services contractor, this business was created to support the industry’s shift toward faster, safer, and more sustainable construction methods. Operating from a dedicated Coventry-based facility, the company designs and manufactures pre-fabricated mechanical and structural solutions including pipework spools, modular frameworks, MEP skids, and packaged plantrooms. Projects are delivered across healthcare, education, data centres, infrastructure, and residential sectors, often in partnership with Tier 1 contractors. The operation is supported by an experienced leadership team and a skilled workforce of designers, coded welders, MEP installers, and QA specialists. Quality, safety, and consistency are central to how the business operates, with robust management systems and accreditation targets embedded into everyday processes.
The Role
As Operations Manager, you will take full responsibility for operational activity within the production facility. This includes pricing, planning, production output, quality assurance, health and safety, materials management, and transport coordination. Reporting directly to the Managing Director, the Operations Manager will ensure the workshop operates efficiently, safely, and to a consistently high standard, while supporting continuous improvement as the business scales.
Key Responsibilities
- Price pipe spools and offsite products accurately
- Complete take-offs from drawings and order materials
- Plan and schedule daily and weekly production workloads
- Allocate labour to meet programme and delivery requirements
- Oversee all products manufactured within the workshop
- Lead daily briefings and support workforce development
- Ensure products are manufactured to specification and tested correctly
- Maintain QA records and sign off products prior to dispatch
- Enforce safe systems of work and maintain a safe working environment
- Carry out inspections and close out health and safety actions
- Manage stock levels and material availability
- Coordinate deliveries, collections, and transport logistics
- Maintain a clean, organised, and professional workshop environment
- Lead 5S, housekeeping, and layout improvements
- Drive continuous improvement across production processes
Performance Focus
The Operations Manager will be measured against delivery performance, quality compliance, safety standards, pricing accuracy, and overall workshop presentation.
Suitable Background
This position will suit an Operations Manager with experience in offsite fabrication, mechanical services, steelwork, or modular construction environments. You will be comfortable working from drawings, managing production teams, and balancing commercial awareness with operational control.
