Estimator – Civils Salary: £60,000 – £90,000 Location: Luton My client is a privately-owned, independent civil engineering/groundworks contractor. They specialise in groundworks, remediation, reinforced concrete, and general civils. As an Estimator, you will be responsible for all aspects of the tendering process, from pre-qualification through to tender submission, and then on award, ensuring a smooth handover to the site team. Your main responsibilities will include: • Estimating and preparing tender submissions for a range of civil engineering projects. • Taking off and preparing bills of quantities. • Working with operational colleagues to establish methodology, programme, resource requirements, etc. • Working with commercial and procurement colleagues to identify sub-contractor packages, prepare enquiries, and interrogate returns to select suppliers. • Contributing to the risk review/assessment process where required. • Participating in meetings, as required. E.g. tender settlement meetings, presentations to clients, tender negotiations, and pre-start meetings. • Maintaining an up-to-date knowledge of operating methods on site and the materials and resources required. • Supporting and coaching more junior members of the team.
