About the Company

A well-established civil engineering contractor based in Chipping Norton, delivering projects across groundworks, reinforced concrete structures, drainage, and bulk earthworks. The business operates with a highly practical, hands-on culture where collaboration is key. The team works closely together to deliver projects efficiently, and everyone contributes beyond strict job titles to ensure projects are completed successfully.

The Role

This position sits between engineering, technical, and commercial support, helping convert design information into practical site delivery while supporting procurement and project administration. The successful candidate will enable senior operational staff to return to primarily site-based duties by taking ownership of key technical and coordination responsibilities.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Interpreting CAD drawings and transferring data into Leica Icon (or similar) equipment for site setting out
  • Preparing and transferring GPS 3D machine control data to excavator units
  • Quantifying materials from AutoCAD drawings to support BOQ preparation and tender submissions
  • Identifying required materials and compiling purchasing matrices for procurement
  • Attending site to measure as-built works for valuation and invoicing purposes
  • Supporting project delivery across both office and site environments as required

What We’re Looking For

  • Previous experience as a Site Engineer, Setting Out Engineer, or similar role
  • Ability to interpret and work from AutoCAD drawings
  • Experience with GPS machine control / 3D modelling (Leica, Trimble or similar preferred)
  • Strong practical understanding of civil engineering or groundworks projects
  • Organised and proactive with a willingness to learn new skills
  • Comfortable working within a small, collaborative team environment

The Culture

This is a business where people are valued for their attitude as much as their technical ability. The team is very hands-on, and success comes from everyone contributing where needed. The right person will be someone who:

  • Isn’t rigid about job titles
  • Is happy to support wider business needs when required
  • Understands that going the extra mile helps the whole team succeed

Whether that’s assisting another department, helping solve a site issue, or stepping in to keep projects moving, teamwork is central to how the company operates.

Package

  • Salary up to £60,000 per annum DOE
  • Company car
  • Pension scheme
  • Holiday entitlement
  • Full-time, permanent position
