Our mission is simple - to help consumers find freedom from cumulative lifestyle borrowing such as credit‑cards, overdrafts and buy‑now pay‑later schemes. While retailers and some start‑ups remain intent on weaponising algorithms to maximise profit, we harness behaviour science, AI and expertise to offer our users powerful counter‑measures. As the business is undergoing rapid growth in demand for their product, we are looking for an enthusiastic underwriter to help us deliver an exceptional level of service to our customers. We do not believe in silos and departments that are typically found in banks and other lenders. As part of the Underwriting Team you will work and be responsible across multiple disciplines to ensure you help your customers achieve the best outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Approve and decline loan applications by assessing applicants’ creditworthiness and affordability in line with Updraft lending policy.
- Gather additional information needed for credit applications from customers.
- Communicate with customers in a friendly and efficient manner through all application stages.
- Form and maintain effective relationships across all business teams.
- Regularly participate in various business projects helping to improve our processes and achieve.
Qualifications
- Minimum 1 year to 3 years of experience in consumer credit underwriting.
- Previous experience in a customer‑facing role is an advantage.
- Strong numerical and analytical skills.
- High level of attention to detail.
- Strong decision‑maker.
- Inquisitive thinker and critical mind.
- Comfortable with a fast‑paced environment and frequent changes.
- Availability to work either Saturdays or Sundays.
- Previous experience in a start‑up is an advantage.
