Lecturer in GCSE & Functional Skills Maths
NSCG is seeking two lecturers for Maths within our GCSE & Functional Skills Adult Learning team. Posts available at Newcastle College (Position 1) and Stafford College (Position 2).
Position 1 — Hours: 14.8 hours per week (0.4 FTE) including 2 evenings (Tue & Thu) 18:00–21:00. Actual Salary: £12,854 – £17,139 per annum (£32,136 – £42,848 FTE). Terms: Permanent. Location: Newcastle College.
Position 2 — Hours: Casual hourly paid. Hourly Rate: £25.38. Terms: Temporary Fixed-term for 12 months. Location: Stafford College.

We are looking for a Lecturer of Maths within our GCSE & Functional Skills Adult Learning team. Our ideal candidate will be an inspiring lecturer with a proven record of innovation and a proactive approach to delivering adult provision, with an understanding of and sensitivity towards learners to help them reach their potential. We are looking for enthusiastic, self-motivated team players who are qualified with a Maths or related degree and have achieved a Level 5 teaching qualification (DTLLS or equivalent).
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Play an active role in raising the standard and awareness of Maths across the college communities.
- Deliver excellent standards of teaching and learning across all areas within the curriculum.
- Engage in core duties including preparation, marking, monitoring student progress, preparing reports, setting and marking examination papers, and developing flexible learning materials.
- Involve in marketing of the College, Faculty and Department.
Required Skills and Experience
- Degree (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline.
- Teaching qualification (PGCE or DTTLS) or holds an AET and willingness to progress.
- Well organized and able to manage peaks and troughs of a varied workload.
- Ability to communicate effectively with adult students and peers.
