Brand Lead (Head of Brand) | £60-70k

We help challenger brands fight smarter, think sharper, and win bigger.

We build experienced, dynamic and fractional teams that fit in like puzzle pieces – providing just the right knowledge and energy at the right time. We’re not your typical agency or a one-man show; we\’re a team of passionate professionals who eat, sleep, and breathe branding and marketing.

Our diverse team of experts covers all marketing mix elements, from brand strategy and social media to performance and web development and beyond and with over 100 brands under our belt, our Brand Hackers have a treasure trove of shared experiences. This wealth of knowledge fuels our creativity and gives us the edge.

We’re 4 years old and have grown from just 2 of us to 20+ people with knock-out case studies we’re really proud of and a serious growing reputation (even if we say so ourselves).
Beyond FMCG, we\’re building iconic challenger brands across Beauty, Luxury, Film, and more working with big challengers like Tony’s Chocolonely and emerging hot startups like Seep. From customer insights and brand strategy to campaign planning and comms strategy, our team tackles a wide range of briefs. To match our momentum, we\’re looking for a Brand Lead to steer the team through our fast growth, and deliver standout brand marketing strategies and execution for our brands.

The Role: Brand Lead

Key responsibilities:

As our Brand Lead, you’ll be the strategic engine behind the brands we work with combining insight, storytelling, and commercial thinking to drive standout brand strategies and marketing activity. You\’ll lead the delivery of high-impact work for our most ambitious challenger brands, ensuring we\’re not only meeting but redefining what great looks like in the category.

You’ll own brand strategy and execution across a pod of retained clients, from positioning and messaging to campaigns and go-to-market plans. You’ll also play a key leadership role in our agency; supporting new business, upskilling the team, and ensuring the Brand Pod delivers commercial and creative impact.

This role is for someone who thrives at the intersection of brand strategy, creative execution, and client leadership – who can craft a killer proposition one minute, steer a rebrand the next, and still jump into a creative workshop or pitch with energy and clarity.

Key responsibilities:

Leadership & vision

  • Define the vision and roadmap for the Brand Marketing Pod across customer insights, brand strategy, campaign management and brand tracking.

  • Set high standards for quality and establish clear processes and tools to ensure consistent output that meets or exceeds client expectations.

  • Lead and inspire a team of brand marketers, strategists and freelance creatives (copywriters and designers)

  • Create an unstoppable team culture, values, and vision that attracts and retains the best!

Client and commercial leadership

  • Serve as the strategic lead on key brand accounts, partnering with brands to translate brand goals into actionable plans

  • Guide clients through moments of change – rebrands, launches, campaigns, or team transitions

  • Work closely with the commercial team to grow brand revenue and contribute to new business and identify commercial opportunities for upsell, scope expansion, or cross-sell into other teams.

  • Represent Brand Hackers publicly through thought leadership, panels, or industry engagement.

  • Own the department P&L, understanding how decisions you make impact the financial health, performance and future sustainability of the department.

Strategic & campaign management

  • Lead the development of impactful brand strategies and plans for our biggest brands and work closely with content, growth, and creative teams to bring strategies to life

  • Oversee the delivery of impactful, culture-driven campaigns with measurable business results.

  • Drive innovation and test-and-learn approaches to brand marketing channels and comms planning.

Team leadership & development

  • Mentor and develop team members to deliver the best work of their careers

  • Own and refine delivery processes and tools to ensure high-quality, efficient outputs

Your skills & experience

  • Proven experience in brand strategy, brand management, or creative strategy – ideally in an agency or startup environment

  • Passionate and opinionated on challenger brand marketing with a proven track record driving brand metrics through effective, creative campaigns and the ability to push ideas to the next level.

  • Strategic thinker with commercial awareness, able to tie brand activity to business impact

  • Strong leadership and team coaching experience

  • Excellent client relationship and project management skills, able to juggle multiple brands without dropping the ball

  • Deep understanding of brand building and positioning with a flair for storytelling and insight-led thinking

  • Experience delivering campaigns and coordinating cross-functional teams (growth, social, content, creative)
Experienced with department-specific financials, including managing the department P&L, setting clear pricing models and understanding how to effectively negotiate rates with external providers to maintain project margins.
