We are looking for a strategic, evidence-driven, deeply curious Senior Product Manager to own and elevate the teacher and student experience at the heart of our product. In this role, you will define the vision and roadmap for how teachers and students engage with Up Learn - turning what is already a promising experience into one that is genuinely easy, motivating, and impactful in driving the grade improvements our customers buy us for.
You will own the full product discovery and delivery cycle: systematically uncovering the highest-impact opportunities, testing assumptions rigorously, and doing whatever it takes to ship work that moves the needle. This is a high-ownership, high-accountability senior IC role for someone who combines sharp strategic thinking with a bias for action. You will work closely with leadership and teams across engineering, learning, and commercial - building the evidence, alignment, and momentum needed to deliver a roadmap that creates real value for teachers, students, and the business.
At Up Learn, we’ve built one of the world’s most effective learning experiences by combining cognitive science, instructional theory, and artificial intelligence. Our mission is to give every learner the most effective path to success, and our vision is a world where every learner achieves more, faster, through adaptive, mastery-based learning. We’re the market-leading platform for A Levels, with seven courses on offer and 1 in 3 A Level students using Up Learn. Over the next year, we’re launching GCSE Science and accelerating growth, expanding our impact to millions more students. Our results speak for themselves: 97% of students who complete our courses achieve an A*/A, even those who started with lower grades. And a large-scale evaluation of Up Learn in schools found usage is associated with 9 months additional progress, with grade improvements across whole year groups. And for every paying student, we provide a full scholarship to a student in need - ensuring high-quality education is accessible to all.
You are a rigorous, evidence-driven product thinker who explores multiple problems and solutions before committing to a direction, and takes full ownership of outcomes - not just outputs. You roll your sleeves up to make impact happen, and are deeply curious about your users, your market, and your data, relentlessly building that expertise over time. You're a strong collaborator who actively seeks challenge and disagreement and uses it to build better products. You're excited by AI - not as an end in itself, but as a genuine opportunity to work smarter and build better. And you're energised by the ambiguity and pace of a rapidly scaling company, motivated by work that genuinely improves lives.
What you'll do in the first 6 months:
- Define vision and roadmap. Own the product vision and roadmap for your goals. Ground both in qualitative and quantitative evidence, and build genuine understanding and buy‑in from leadership and Heads of Department.
- Run product discovery. Systematically explore multiple problems and solutions before committing to a direction. Use a range of discovery techniques - user research, in-product experiments, trapdoor tests, technical PoCs - to pressure-test assumptions and identify what will make the most impact.
- Deliver impact. More importantly than anything, do whatever it takes to ship work that achieves your goals. That means leadership and persuasion when you need others to move and rolling up your sleeves when you don't - whether that’s data analysis, project management, product marketing, or talking directly to customers.
- Be data‑fluent. Define the metrics that best track impact for your goals, including baselines and targets where applicable. Develop deep expertise in the data available to you - product analytics, commercial data - including its definitions, caveats, and limits. Use it to make sharper decisions.
- Build deep domain knowledge. Become the company's go-to expert on your users, your market, and your product. Regularly watch sales and customer success calls, read customer feedback, interview users, and keep a close eye on competitors and market trends.
- Help build a better product org. Actively contribute to improving how the product team works - bringing ideas from your own experience and from the wider product community. Take ownership of improvements rather than waiting to be asked.
- Collaborate across the company. Build strong working relationships with teams across engineering, learning, and commercial. Seek out their expertise early and often - not as stakeholder management, but because it makes the product better.
- Embrace AI. Actively experiment with how AI can improve what you build and how you work. Bring a point of view, take ownership of trying new approaches, and stay closely engaged with how the space is developing.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 7 years of product management experience, with significant time in a senior IC role at a startup or scale‑up.
- Proven track record of owning complex product goals end‑to‑end and delivering measurable impact - not just shipping features.
- Strong product discovery skills, with hands‑on experience using a range of techniques - user research, in‑product experiments, trapdoor tests, prototypes - to identify the highest‑impact problems and solutions.
- Excellent strategic thinking, with the ability to synthesise qualitative and quantitative evidence into a clear, compelling, long‑term product roadmap.
- Strong analytical skills, with experience defining success metrics and using product analytics and commercial data to drive prioritisation and evaluate outcomes.
- A natural collaborator who builds trusted relationships across engineering, commercial, and other teams - and knows how to turn stakeholder input into better product decisions.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to write crisp problem statements and evidence summaries that land with any audience.
- A bias for action and ownership - comfortable doing whatever it takes to get things over the line, whether that’s data analysis, project management, or direct customer conversations.
- Actively uses AI tools to improve how you work and what you build, and stays closely engaged with developments in the space.
Benefits:
- Awesome colleagues! We’ve put together a cracking team, and now you’re part of it you’ll shape the future of it.
- Meaningful, fulfilling and engaging work that has an immediate positive impact on tens of thousands of students and the potential to impact millions of students.
- The opportunity to build the future of education and accelerate humanity’s ability to learn.
- Tons of opportunities to learn and develop a wide range of skills.
- Hybrid working environment with a minimum of two days in the office per week (one team day and one company day) and the rest is up to you.
- A competitive salary + bonus package.
- Meaningful stake in the company’s growth and success (equity share options).
- ~35 days of paid holiday per year made up of: 26 days of bookable holiday, plus bank holidays, plus unlimited ‘extra days’ (i.e. if you need a few more days, no problem).
- Significantly enhanced parental leave.
- Level 6 (highest level) dental insurance.
- Paid‑for coffee breaks (a great chance to get to know the team).
- Monthly & quarterly paid‑for socials and quality time with your work colleagues as well as an in‑office shower room to make sporting activities easier to join.
- A spacious and bright private office in Old Street, with delicious coffee, a selection of teas and unlimited snacks and drinks.
- Cycle‑to‑Work: we are registered so you can buy a bike and accessories tax‑free.
- Unlimited budget for any work‑related books you need.
- Family access to Up Learn: your family and close relatives get unlimited access to any Up Learn course for free.
Core values:
- CARE: Put people and mission first. Celebrate success together.
- OWN: Take responsibility. Step up. Transparently own outcomes.
- LEARN: Live for learning. Seek feedback. Turn challenges into opportunities.
- ACT: Prioritise progress. Challenge what’s possible. Move the needle.
