About the role
Our tutors play an irreplaceable role within the Customer Experience team, supporting students to achieve everything they want from our courses, whether it’s chasing an A* or improving from a D to a B. We’re a small, fast-growing team at a very exciting stage, and we’re looking for exceptionally capable, highly driven, and naturally empathetic individuals to join us.
As a tutor at Up Learn, you’ll act as a role model, motivating and inspiring students, while delivering a world-class experience that has a life-changing impact on their educational achievements and confidence.
This role also involves analysing and improving the accuracy of our AI tutor, reviewing responses, identifying gaps, and helping refine our AI’s subject knowledge to ensure all students receive reliable and high-quality guidance.

Responsibilities
- Answer subject-specific student questions via email or chat, covering the Up Learn content.
- Effectively diagnose the root of knowledge gaps by asking the right questions and engaging thoughtfully with students.
- Help students receive value from Up Learn quickly by improving their initial experience with the platform.
- Analyse AI tutor responses for accuracy, highlight errors, and contribute to ongoing AI improvements.
- Provide patient, concise guidance with empathy, helping students understand where and how to improve.
- Deliver an exceptional student experience, ensuring every interaction leaves a ‘wow’ impression.
- Reassure, motivate, and build both confidence and independence in students.
- Inspire students to become ambassadors and advocates for Up Learn.

Qualifications
- Strong academic track record in Economics (and ideally one or more additional Up Learn subjects: Maths, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Psychology).
- Outstanding communication skills, written and spoken – you enjoy connecting with students across multiple channels.
- High empathy and active listening skills, able to understand students’ perspectives and respond supportively.
- Meticulous attention to detail, especially when reviewing AI tutor outputs and student work.
- Passion for education and a hunger to deliver the best possible student experience.
- Comfortable working with feedback – both giving and receiving – to continuously improve.
- Analytical mindset, able to assess AI tutor performance, spot patterns or inaccuracies, and suggest actionable improvements.
- Care deeply about our mission and about making a tangible impact on thousands of young people.
