The role

What will you be doing?

Unum UK is seeking a Senior Actuarial Manager to join our Capital team. In this position, you’ll be responsible for maintaining the capital management framework and recovery plan, leading key capital initiatives, and supporting senior stakeholders through high quality analysis, reporting and Board level communications.

What you’ll do:

  • Maintain and oversee the capital management framework, recovery plan and early warning indicators.
  • Own the Ancillary Own Funds arrangement, including monitoring, Unum US Treasury engagement and periodic PRA approvals.
  • Play a lead role in capital strategy reviews, model baselining and wider capital initiatives.
  • Review and maintain methodologies and assumptions within the Solvency II Internal Model and associated Technical Papers.
  • Oversee the model baselining programme, including associated auditor engagement.
  • Analyse regulatory developments and lead responses to changes in regulation or risk profile.
  • Prepare clear Board and Committee papers and present to senior governance forums.
  • Play a key role in building strong stakeholder relationships.
  • Proactively improve processes within the Actuarial Risk and Capital team.
  • Line manage, coach and develop actuarial students and newly qualified actuaries, as required.

About you:

  • A qualified actuary with strong post‑qualification experience.
  • Strong knowledge of Solvency II and UK regulatory requirements.
  • An excellent communicator with strong analytical, problem‑solving and IT skills.
  • Confident managing multiple priorities.
  • Experience coaching and developing actuarial talent.
