We\’re looking for Senior Claims Assessors to join us here at Unum, where you\’ll play a vital role in delivering financial security and support to individuals and families during life\’s most challenging times. You\’ll bring proven experience in Income Protection and the ability to manage complex claims with technical precision. Alongside your strong communication skills, empathy, and analytical mindset, you\’ll benefit from ongoing development and support to help you grow your career in a purpose-driven environment.
What you\’ll be doing:
- Claims Management: Proactively assess claims from both medical and financial perspectives, ensuring accurate interpretation of policy documentation and timely decisions.
- Customer Focus: Deliver exceptional service by maintaining regular, clear communication and adhering to Treating Customers Fairly principles.
- Technical Leadership: Support the Claims team with payment checking, mentoring, and coaching, helping to build technical capability across the department.
- Collaboration: Work closely with rehabilitation teams, clients, and internal stakeholders to promote return-to-work strategies and maintain strong partnerships.
- Continuous Improvement: Contribute to process enhancements, participate in change initiatives, and provide valuable management information.
Requirements:
- Proven experience in assessing Income Protection Claims.
- Strong understanding of long-term medical conditions, NHS systems, and rehabilitation processes.
- Experience using claims management tools such as functional assessments.
- Excellent relationship-building, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
- Demonstrated ability to coach and mentor junior team members.
