Hybrid – Dorking or Basingstoke, 3 days a week in the office.

What will you be doing? We are looking for a hands-on Data Governance Lead to shape, launch, and embed a brand-new data governance capability across the organisation. We need someone excited by the challenge of creating structure, frameworks, and ways of working where they don’t yet fully exist. If you thrive on building foundations, influencing direction, and driving cultural change around data, we’d love to hear from you.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and roll out a fit for purpose data governance framework, ensuring it aligns with business priorities, risk appetite, and regulatory expectations.
  • Create and embed data policies, standards, and operating procedures, building consistency, trust, and compliance in how data is handled across the organisation.
  • Set up and lead governance forums, helping to shape decision making, strengthen collaboration, and engage stakeholders at all levels.
  • Drive and deliver governance initiatives, ensuring they are aligned with organisational objectives and implemented effectively.
  • Define and operationalise data ownership and stewardship models, bringing clarity, accountability, and shared responsibility to data management.

Skills & Experience

  • A builder, creator, and problem solver with the ability to design governance processes from scratch.
  • Strong critical and creative thinking skills, capable of identifying root cause issues and developing innovative, practical solutions.
  • Excellent communicator, able to translate complex data concepts into simple, accessible language for non-technical audiences.
  • Strong analytical capability to interpret and act on data governance metrics, KPIs, and insights.
  • Proven ability to influence, collaborate, and bring stakeholders on the journey toward a more data-driven culture.
