The role
Location: Hybrid, minimum 2 days a week with minimum 1 day in Dorking. Other day(s) could be in Dorking, Basingstoke or London.
We’re a specialist, market-leading employee benefits provider – with an ambitious future. Unum UK are looking for a nearly or newly qualified Actuary with pricing experience to join our team. We would like this person to be technically strong, as well as an excellent communicator. Experience with Python or R would be an advantage.
Our Actuarial teams manage the pricing, reserve support and reporting for our businesses. We have a robust development program that provides a rich learning environment for all levels, Actuarial Consultants are expected to move between functions & develop competence in the different Actuarial areas.
We are seeking a dynamic individual to own Actuarial tasks and provide comprehensive insights to Actuarial and Senior Management, understanding the broader business implications. This role involves proactively liaising with various business units, offering expertise and guidance, and leading thought leadership in areas of expertise. The ideal candidate will communicate confidently and effectively on technical topics to diverse audiences, influencing cross-functional business decision-making.
What will you bring?
- Student or ex-student actuary with a high number of actuarial examination passes/significant experience.
- Highly numerate.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to liaise with business stakeholders.
- Motivated, enthusiastic and inquisitive.
- The ability to work under pressure, managing own time to meet tight deadlines and managing competing and conflicting demands within your workload.
