We currently have a vacancy for a Planning Manager for our Volume Housebuilding team.
Aim of the role:
We have an opportunity for a Planning Manager to join a friendly team working from our Western region and based at our office in Exeter on a permanent basis.
Duties include:
- Progressing and managing the planning processes either directly or via consultants to ensure the best opportunity is provided to achieve planning permission to the satisfaction of the Company within appropriate time constraints.
- Provide Town Planning advice and co-ordinate with the land, technical, sales, commercial and design departments to assist with land purchase and planning matters as appropriate.
- Assessing the planning risk prior to land purchase.
- Overseeing and managing Project Planning Teams.
- Delivering profitable development opportunities to meet targets and programmes as directed by the Company.
- Co-ordinate and manage external consultants as appropriate.
- Consider all planning issues in connection with the land e.g. archaeological, ecological, highways, services, TIA’s, EIA’s, BNG, etc.
- Investigate and consider all planning matters and quantify any risks.
- Where appropriate instruct and liaise with solicitors to achieve satisfactory planning documentation e.g. S106’s etc.
- Co-ordinate and manage any public exhibitions/presentations in connection with planning applications.
- Attend meetings with Parish Councils and other bodies as appropriate.
- Assess and respond to Committee agendas/reports and represent the Company at planning committees.
- Liaise with in-house or external architects regarding feasibility schemes for strategic opportunities as part of the Project Team.
- Attend site meetings as and when required.
- Maintain good working relationships with external stakeholders.
- Maintain an up to date knowledge of all relevant planning matters and provide town-planning advice.
- Prepare Project Development assessments as appropriate.
- Co-ordinate with the Land and Planning Director any planning appeals made by the Company and ensure they are run effectively and efficiently.
- Ensure that the Land and Planning Director is advised of all matters at all times.
We’re looking for the following experience:
- Member of RTPI or degree level in T&C planning.
- Good knowledge of local Authority policy requirements.
- Good relationships with relevant local Authorities and Planning Consultants.
- The ability to cross collaborate cross functionally as part of the Project Team.
- Ability to recognise problems and deal with them quickly and efficiently.
- Full UK Driving licence and ability to travel.
- Great verbal written and communication skills.
- Ability to multi-task with good time management.
- Proficient IT skills - Office, Word and Excel.
