Role Description
The Field Services Engineer is a full-time role, responsible for supporting the installation, commissioning, servicing, and repair of UNTHA shredders and related equipment at customer locations. Day-to-day tasks include diagnosing mechanical and electrical issues, performing scheduled preventive maintenance, and carrying out corrective repairs to ensure safe and reliable operation. The role involves providing technical support and guidance to clients, documenting service activities, and reporting equipment performance and improvement opportunities to the internal team. The engineer will collaborate closely with sales, projects, and service departments, promote best practices for machine operation and safety, and contribute to high levels of customer satisfaction through clear communication and professional conduct. Travel to client sites within the UK, and occasionally further afield, will be required.
Qualifications
- Candidates should possess strong field service experience, including on-site installation, commissioning, and repair of industrial or heavy machinery.
- Candidates should possess troubleshooting and technical support skills to diagnose mechanical, electrical, and control system issues and provide effective resolutions.
- Candidates should possess preventive maintenance capabilities, including inspection, routine servicing, and component replacement to minimize downtime.
- Candidates should possess customer service skills, with the ability to build positive relationships, communicate clearly, and represent the company professionally at client sites.
- Relevant technical qualification (e.g., apprenticeship, NVQ, or diploma in mechanical/electrical engineering or similar) is highly beneficial.
- Experience with industrial shredders, recycling equipment, or process machinery is an advantage.
- Ability to read technical drawings and manuals, use diagnostic tools, and work safely in industrial environments.
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel regularly to customer sites.
