Müller has been a loved brand in the UK for over 30 years. It’s a household name – and it continues to grow as we invest to make and market an ever-great range of fantastic dairy products. We are currently the 8th most chosen FMCG brand, picked from supermarket shelves over 208 million times each year.

We are looking for a Packaging Technologist to join our friendly UK Packaging Development team. This is a hands‑on, varied role for someone who enjoys solving technical challenges, working cross‑functionally and seeing ideas move from concept through trials, approval and launch.

What you will do:

  • Lead and support packaging development activity from briefing and feasibility through trial, approval, launch and project closure.
  • Plan, organise and attend packaging trials across MYD and MMI sites, ensuring clear trial objectives, robust data capture and timely follow‑up actions.
  • Work with internal stakeholders and suppliers to develop, test and implement packaging materials and formats that fit manufacturing, customer, consumer, and sustainability requirements.
  • Support packaging input into NPD, optimisation, cost saving, compliance and investment projects, keeping project teams clear on risks, timings and technical decisions.
  • Develop and maintain packaging specifications, technical documentation, material approvals, and launch readiness information in line with internal processes.
  • Partner with Operations, Engineering and Quality to resolve packaging‑related line issues, improve efficiency and support root‑cause problem solving.
  • Work closely with Print and Artwork colleagues to ensure packaging changes are managed accurately, on time and to the required quality standard.
  • Build strong relationships with suppliers and Müller colleagues across the UK and wider Group networks, sharing learning and bringing best practice back into the business.

What you will bring:

  • Experience in packaging development, packaging technology, manufacturing, technical services or a related FMCG / food environment.
  • A practical understanding of packaging materials, production trials, specifications, and the interaction between packaging, product, and manufacturing equipment.
  • Confident project working style: organised, proactive, able to manage actions and communicate clearly across functions.
  • Curiosity and energy to learn new technologies, challenge the status quo and help Müller deliver better, faster and more sustainable packaging solutions.
  • Ability to travel regularly across UK sites and occasionally across the wider Müller network as project needs with a full driving license.
  • Strong attention to detail, especially around food safety, compliance, quality, artwork and specification accuracy.

This is a great opportunity to build a career in packaging within a fast‑paced dairy business, working on real projects that touch the products consumers see every day. You will join a supportive technical team with exposure to multiple sites, technologies, product categories and business units — giving you the chance to grow your skills, widen your network and make a visible impact.

We’re committed to creating an inclusive workplace where everyone feels they belong. We welcome applications from all backgrounds and encourage people to apply even if they don’t meet every requirement listed. If you need reasonable adjustments at any stage of the recruitment process, please let us know - we’re happy to support you.
