For a fabulous Teacher of Science who is passionate about Biology, Physics and Chemistry. You may be a new or experienced teacher but will certainly have a determination to be an outstanding practitioner. The successful candidate will join our Science Department, which comprises 9 colleagues. Our team has built a world-class Science curriculum with broad coverage and exciting enhancement activities. Unsworth Academy is a thriving, oversubscribed, co-educational and non-selective high school in Bury. The school is on an exciting journey of school improvement. Our latest Ofsted report (April 2025) was glowing and indicative of an outstanding judgement if graded. A new three-year development plan titled Exemplary Unsworth 2028 was launched in September 2025. It will guide our journey to an even more sophisticated level of provision for the community of Unsworth. Responsibilities:

  • Teach Science with a focus on Biology, Physics and Chemistry and contribute to the development of a world-class Science curriculum.
  • Be an excellent team participant, drive continuous improvement, and maintain strong subject knowledge.
  • Support the Science Department in its ongoing improvement journey and collaborate with colleagues to deliver a broad and engaging curriculum.
  • Uphold the school’s values and contribute to a culture of inclusivity, resilience, and high standards for all students.
  • Engage in professional development opportunities offered by Shaw Education Trust and the Institute of Education as part of ongoing professional growth.

Qualifications:

  • Strong subject knowledge in Biology, Physics and Chemistry.
