Why Your Role Matters: The Senior Lecturer (Education Focused) is an experienced General Practitioner with broad expertise in clinical medicine who plays a leadership role in delivering high-quality teaching and driving educational excellence across undergraduate and postgraduate medical programs. Grounded in contemporary clinical practice, the role focuses on designing, delivering and assessing innovative, student-centred learning experiences. Reporting to the Associate Professor, the position carries responsibility for course coordination and academic quality assurance, ensuring curriculum and assessment reflect current professional, ethical and legal standards. The Senior Lecturer provides educational leadership by mentoring academic and clinical educators, working collaboratively with academic, clinical and professional stakeholders, and contributing to School and Faculty activities. The role fosters a culture of collaboration, innovation and continuous improvement, while upholding UNSW’s values and health and safety responsibilities.
Who You Are:
- A medical qualification, with unconditional registration with AHPRA as a specialist General Practitioner.
- Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners or the Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine.
- Higher degree in a related field (desirable).
- Demonstrated record of excellence in medical education, relevant to these domains.
- Demonstrated experience in teaching and learning design using a range of pedagogical approaches, development and delivery of courses and programs, at undergraduate and/or postgraduate level.
- Experience of implementing educational technologies and online delivery methods.
- Evidence of teaching effectiveness and passion for educational excellence and fostering this in others.
- Evidence of professional development of teaching practice in self and others with the ability to advance and lead an inclusive culture of excellence in learning and teaching.
- Demonstrated success in initiating curriculum development and improvement.
- Evidence of highly developed interpersonal and organisational skills.
- An understanding of and commitment to UNSW’s aims, objectives and values in action, together with relevant policies and guidelines.
- Knowledge of health & safety (psychosocial and physical) responsibilities and commitment to attending relevant health and safety training.
