Position Overview

Senior Lecturer / Associate Professor – Teaching and Research at UNSW Law & Justice, Kensington Campus, Sydney, NSW. Full‑time, 35 hours per week. Level C salary from $155,000 (plus superannuation and leave loading); Level D from $185,000. Job No: 541212.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain a strong individual research portfolio.
  • Teach and convene BCCJ courses, including Criminology in Practice and Criminology Work Integrated Learning Placement.
  • Contribute to the School and Faculty teaching programmes, research culture, and engagement activities.
  • Coordinate curriculum development and improvement with Indigenous‑led approaches.
  • Support and inspire students from diverse backgrounds, champion equity, diversity and inclusion.
  • Collaborate with industry partners and employ innovative educational technologies.
  • Participate in service and engagement activities within the School.

Qualifications (Level C & D)

  • PhD in Criminology or related discipline (or equivalent).
  • Experience using quantitative and qualitative social science methodologies; expertise in Indigenous knowledges is highly desirable.
  • Significant research track record with high quality and impact.
  • Capacity to recruit and supervise high calibre HD research students.
  • Demonstrated ability to teach and convene courses in the BCCJ to a high standard.
  • Experience in curriculum development and improvement.
  • Commitment to UNSW aims, objectives and values.
  • Knowledge of health & safety responsibilities.
  • Leadership experience (Level D) in research and curriculum, and in building industry partnerships.
